Sheep’s Cave
On the first day of Nathanukah, I took the girls on a caving expedition to Sheep’s Cave in Meramec State Park, Missouri. Sheep’s Cave is a wild cave next to a parking lot, with no bats, so it is suitable for exploration any time of year. It is level with few obstacles and just a bit of duck walking. I’ve included a map of the location at the bottom of this post.
Note the really cool ice formations at the mouth of the cave. It had been very cold, and then thawed and re-froze, so there were terrific ice stalagmites. Some of them were as tall as Emma!
The girls wore what is now their standard caving gear - bicycle helmets with headlamps attached with velcro, as well as handheld flashlights.
